"After School "Express" is a comprehensive, affordable and registered child care service by NYS OCFS and partially funded by the Advantage After School Program Grant of the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Conducted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Rensselaer County, After School Express offers a safe and affordable child care program for our working parents. Strict staffing ratios are maintained as required by NYS OCFS.
The program is conducted by trained Boys & Girls Club professionals and focuses on three major core areas.
Activities are conducted in the cores as follows:

Education: Power Hour and Project Learn are nationally recognized and proven educational programs that provide homework help, tutoring and a variety of new and exciting high yield learing activities.

Health and Life Skills: Develops young peoples capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and develop the copetencies to lead a successful life.

Sports, Fitness and Recreation: A program designed to develop team work, sportsmanship and self-esteem, while teaching the importance of keeping yourself physically fit and healthy. Combines a variety of activities such as arts & crafts and board games, all of which are designed to encourage the children to express themselves, to enhance their creative abilities.
Your Child Is Important
We offer the the After School Express with the objective of giving children supervision and guidence at a time when you as parents/guardians, are unable to.
Registration
You may register at the Boys & Girls Club located at 544 Broadway, Rensselaer, NY 12144. You should be prepared to provide necessary medical and immunization history information on the registration form. This information is mandatory, therefore, any delay in providing it will result in a delay of your child/children being able to participate in this program. We appologize for the extensive amount of information required on the application forms, but this information is necessary to ensure the utmost safety of all concerned. Program Fees
To keep the program affordable, fees are reasonable at $40.00 per week/per child. A deposit equal to two weeks fees ($80.00) is required at the time of registration. This deposit will be used for your payments for the last two weeks of the program in June. If you remove your child before the end of the school year, this deposit will be refunded only after notifying the Club prior to your child's departure from the program. Upon registration your child/children must also become members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Rensselaer County. The membership fee is $5.00 per child under the age of 14. This membership not only entitles your child to attend the After School Express Program, but it makes all our club programs available to him/her. This membership fee is non-refundable and expires at the end of twelve months.
Payment Schedules
Payments are due on Friday of each week for the following week of service ( that means you must pay in advance). You are required to pay weekly or in advance if you prefer. If you're unable to make a payment because of unforseen financial difficulties, arragnements can be made for payment in order to keep your child in the program. Please stop in and speak with the Executive Director of Office Manager. Arrangements can be made to fit your budget. A CHARGE OF $25.00 WILL BE ADDED TO YOUR ACCOUNT FOR ALL RETURNED CHECKS. Payment envelopes will be available at the front desk for your convenience. If you are paying by cash, please have a staff member verify the amount in th envelope.
Public Assistance
If you are currently on Public Assistance, we must receive authorization from DSS before your child/children may start the program.
Non-School Days
The Club is open on most school vacation days and snow days from 8:00am-6:00pm for ASE members. The fee for these days is $15.00 per day, or $75.00 per week for a full week.
Transportation
For children attending the Rensselaer City School District, transportation will be provide by regular School Bus from the school at dismissal time. Please notify the school of your childs registration in the After School Express.
Children attending other school districts are also welcome to participate in the After School Express. Transportation by the Club's van can be arranged for those students. However the number of students we are able to transport and the districts we can pick up from will be limited. Please call the Club to request this service. We will meet as many requests as possible.
