ALL ABOUT CAMP

SAFETY

The Camp is permitted by the Rensselaer County Dept. of Health and regulated under the New York State Sanitary Code, part 7-2. The program and facilities are inspected at least twice yearly, once while in operation, by Rensselaer County Department of Health to ensure that the physical facilities are safe and that supervision is adequate.

We pride ourselves on maintaining a highly qualified camper to counselor ratio of 10:1 with our full-time professionals employed by the Boys & Girls Club, supplemented with specialists certified in their specific fields of expertise. The organization's in house training program insures that all staff is current on all requirements of county and state regulations.

The entire staff is not only qualified and experienced, but deeply concerned with each camper's progress and well-being. Each camper is urged to sample all the scheduled camp programs and encouraged to pursue those that he/she wishes to master.

CAMP ACTIVITIES

Activities are aplenty throughout the day at Summer Camp.  Our dedicated and qualified staff will guide your child through his/her choice of educational and recreational activities in addition to some of the required group and individual sessions. Hidden talents and imagination are brought out with the outdoors related arts and crafts classes; our trail blazing club will teach skills in identifying natural resources and hazards of the land along with locating specific landmarks from a map of the lands; experts in their fields are brought in to discuss the evils of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, in addition to teaching skills in avoiding conflicts among family members and peers.

Team play is the rule when campers choose the sport to participate in.  Physical fitness activities include, and are not limited to, gym games, walking field trips, soccer, and street hockey.
